NIGERIA BUILDING & CONSTRUCTION EXHIBITION

Nigeria, which is the most populated and the biggest economy of Africa with its population of over 200 million and 521 Billion Dollars of Gross National Income, is on the way to become the fastest growing country of the world in construction sector. According to the Nigeria National Statistics Office data, growth shall continue in the years ahead and it shall be among the greatest 20 economies of the world by 2050. The impetus of ever growing and enriching middle class has once more stressed the deficit in housing sector. The housing starts which is currently 100.000 per year should be increased to 700.000 per year in order to meet the existing demand. Hence this deficit has raised the profit margin in housing sector to 38%. Thereby construction sector has become the second largest impetus in Nigeria next to oil and gas sector which is under governmental control. Again, the National Statistic Office data indicate that the real growth rate in construction sector have annually raised by 13% in the average since the year 2010. After the demand for qualified houses has substantially increased between 2010 and 2013, the Nigerian Federal Mortgage Bank authorities have pinpointed that the deficit in housing sector has become 17 million as of the present. In spite of the unprecedented pace in highway and infrastructure construction investments by the Nigerian government, they still remain insufficient in meeting the demand in Nigeria. Analysts report that the infrastructure construction investments during the oncoming 30 years in Nigeria shall be 2,9 trillion dollars.
